The following material was developed for EM&C 3333, Multimedia Design. These are samples of a series of tutorials I have developed for the class that are used to supplement the textbook.

This tutorial teaches students how to make elements on the screen interact with each other. The student creates a match and a firecracker and then sets up the firecracker so that it can be lit by dragging the match across the screen. Students are challenged to figure out how to make the interactions more precise, and we discuss their ideas in class. One of my objectives with this assignment is to help the students realize that there is no one way of doing something in Flash. Want to learn more? View the tutorial in PDF.

In this case, the students are asked to think about using Flash as a communication tool in addition to learning how to break an item into individual components. Students are asked to pick a word and convey its meaning through moving the individual letters that make up the word. View the tutorial in PDF.
